Can’t Stop Chronicles: Konrad Zielonka, Director of Performance Network

AdAction company culture

What would any company be without its amazing team members? Here at AdAction, we’ve developed a team of incredible people, who bring their own unique qualities and strengths to the table. This team of innovative individuals is part of what makes AdAction different from other companies, coming together to push the business to its full potential.

Who are these people, you ask? We’re going to introduce them to you in our series – Can’t Stop Chronicles – to help put a face to the driving force behind our “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” motto. For our next spotlight, we got to know even more about our Director of Performance Network and one of the first members of the AdAction family, Konrad Zielonka.

What does a typical day look like for you?

A big part of my job is keeping everyone on track and helping out with various strategies for our different teams. I lead up efforts to help teams in Denver and Austin stay on the same page and make sure we’re being efficient. Some of those daily tasks include campaign management strategy, publisher relations, network/publisher compliance, new business development, and publisher recruitment. Since our team has historically been so lean, I have a good deal of experience in many areas and can help out team members with various insights on how to tackle certain situations.

What is the most important thing you’ve learned in the past four and a half years?

The team around you really matters. You spend more time with your coworkers than most people in life outside the office, and having people around that you enjoy spending time with makes all the difference. Also, having an upper management team that you trust and can have open communication with is very reassuring and makes you believe in the vision of the company.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

One of the things I like the most about my job are the relationships I’ve built over the years. I’ve had a unique opportunity to work with people from all over the world. I love hearing about what other people are doing to make money in Germany, Portugal, China, Canada, etc. It’s cool to know that when I go to any of these countries around the world, I can reach out to many of these people and grab a drink to catch up. It’s pretty awesome how the internet can connect people from all over the world in so many ways.

Do you have a favorite AdAction memory?

One of the memories I will always have with this company is comparing how we started to where we are now. When I first started, there were only about six or seven employees between Austin and Denver. I will never forget being in a room just slightly bigger than a closet and grinding it out daily. We were all pushing as hard as we could to help build this company into what it is today. The team became very close because we shared the same vision and worked hard to get there. We’ve continued to be a very tight-knit team since then and we’ve really kept that hustle mentality throughout the journey. Seeing the company grow and now expand in many different ways has been a really fun ride to be a part of.

Being one of our original team members, Konrad’s career path has developed rapidly. His career at AdAction began in the role of Manager of Publisher Relations, and he was promoted to Team Lead before recently stepping into his Director role. He’s a sports enthusiast, playing in a fantasy baseball league with coworkers, a pickup game of softball, or round of golf over the weekend. Konrad also enjoys Austin’s live music scene, checking out new restaurants, and hiking the Greenbelt.

What’s a fun fact about you that many people don’t know?

I’m a big baseball fan and I want to eventually see a game at all 30 MLB stadiums. I’ve been to seven stadiums so far — the Marlins, Red Sox, Yankees, Blue Jays, Dodgers, Padres, and Mariners — so I have a long way to go, but I’ll get there!

If you had to pick one movie to watch everyday what would it be?

I know it’s not a movie, but I could watch Chappelle’s Show on repeat all day. Those skits are hilarious.

Are you a cat or dog person?

Definitely a dog person. I don’t have one currently, but I grew up with corgis. I just moved into a house, so my girlfriend and I want to get a dog soon.

What song could you set as your alarm and wake up to everyday?

“Take It To Da House” by Trick Daddy…staying true to my Miami roots.
